As part of Natural Products Expo West this past week, COTA hosted the third edition of the Business Builder’s Breakfast along with provincial partners from Ontario, Saskatchewan, Quebec and Alberta. Over 90 participants from across the country attended this market-insight and networking event. Three guest speakers spoke about different aspects of the U.S. organic market in the US: Bobbi Leahy of SPINS introduced data on the U.S. organic and natural market; Jim Zografos of Global Sales and Marketing Solutions gave attendees tips and information on the real cost of working with U.S. distributors; and Wyatt Muse of Clarkson Grain spoke on trends and challenges that the Canadian and U.S. industry are currently facing. This was the first time the event featured a representative from the U.S. grain industry. The Business Builders’ Breakfast also reached larger audiences through a Twitter campaign, receiving positive feedback under the #BBB16 hashtag.
