The National Organic Program (NOP) announced last week the availability of Final Guidance (NOP 5032) outlining requirements for products in the “Made with Organic ***” labeling category. Specifically, it clarifies composition requirements, compliant labeling claims, use of organic and non-organic forms of the same ingredient, and organic percentage statements. This guidance implements National Organic Standards Board (NOSB) recommendations and responds to the public comments received on the draft guidance released in January 2011. The final guidance incorporates all of the comments and suggested changes OTA submitted when the draft was released to the public. Read OTA’s Comments. Direct your questions to Gwendolyn Wyard, OTA’s Regulatory Director, Organic Standards & Food Safety.
