USDA’s National Organic Program (NOP) has published a Federal Register notice announcing final guidance on the post-harvest handling of organic products. It also clarifies the provisions of the standards for facility pest management, either on-farm or in a handling facility, and supports strong, enforceable standards to protect the integrity of the organic seal. OTA is pleased to see that this final guidance takes into consideration comments received from OTA, and proves once again the effectiveness of member engagement in the process.
