The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is giving farmers who missed the Feb. 4 deadline more time to fill out and submit their forms for the 2012 Census of Agriculture. USDA received 1.4 million returns by the deadline, but said it is imperative to collect information from all farms to help it monitor trends and better understand the needs in agriculture. Federal law requires that all agricultural producers participate, and promises that all individual information is kept confidential. Completed forms can be returned by mail or filed online.
