Following the success of the recently established Farmers Advisory Council, the Board completed a feasibility assessment and voted to reinstitute a sector council system for members. These councils would provide ongoing opportunities for networking, information development and sharing, along with identifying and communicating sector issues, ideas, and concerns to OTA staff and Board. Sector councils will not be policy-setting groups—they will continue to leave that to OTA’s successful task force system. We will announce additional details, including a formal process to request the establishment of a council, at the OTA Annual Meeting in conjunction with Natural Products Expo East in September. In the meantime, if you’d like more information, please contact Laura Batcha.
