Members of the Congressional Citrus Caucus held an informational forum last week with USDA officials and scientists to discuss the current status of citrus greening and related research. Among those in attendance were USDA researchers Dr. Dan Flores (APHIS) and Dr. Tim Gottwald (ARS), who highlighted their research on using insect biocontrol and canine detection to combat citrus greening. USDA officials encouraged continued multi-agency coordination among state Departments of Agriculture, the Environmental Protection Agency, USDA, the Texas Citrus Pest and Disease Management Corporation, and other interested entities. Citrus greening is among the issues addressed by The Organic Center in its research projects.
