Ryan and Tiffany Batalden of Lamberton, Minnesota, produce organic grains and raise livestock on their 380-acre farm in Cottonwood County. They also manage a direct-market popcorn business named Patriot Pops. They will be among those honored at a “Champions of Change” ceremony at the White House today. The ceremony aims to recognize those who “are doing extraordinary things to build the bench for the next generation of farming and ranching,” the White House said in a news release. OTA is pleased to see organic farmers recognized at the White House as significant part of the revitalization of the American rural economy. The ceremony will be broadcast live at the White House, and readers can keep apprised of the Bataldens’ trip to D.C. and other farm news on their farm blog.
